比冲—衡量发动机性能的重要指标就是单位质量的推进剂产生的冲量，即比冲（通常写作Isp）。比冲可用速度（Ve 米每秒或英尺每秒）或时间（秒）度量。比冲大的发动机往往是性能极佳的。
